Welcome to the new, simplified version of www.fishnet.it! With the closing of the physical FISHNET, I’ve taken a lot of obsolete information off the site and left only the information that people have found helpful. Also, this year, you’ll find sections on cooking classes and boating as well as all of the practical information about arriving, accommodations and hiking.

My name is Kate Little and I’ve been a resident of Monterosso al Mare in the Cinque Terre since 1989. I am originally from near Galveston, Texas. I’m 37, am married, and have a 7 year old son.

I started this site in 2000 when, basically, I figured out that you don’t have to be a genius to put up your own web site. While browsing the internet, I had realized that there were very few non-commercial sites that dealt with the Cinque Terre and even less in English.  In this shallow pool of information, I decided to throw in my two pennies. This coincided with the opening of my internet lounge/tourists services shop.

Fishnet Internet Lounge was alive for four seasons. It hosted thousands of tourists, many of whom became friends. It became a point of reference for many visitors to the Cinque Terre as well as for those who only were able to dream of coming for one reason or another. Despite the fact that the shop closed in October 2003 (I missed spending time with my husband and son), I continue to receive email and phone calls very frequently. I feel honored that people trust me and my opinions.

Since this is a non commercial site, I don’t make any money off it– rather, it’s a money hole. I do not make hotel reservations and cannot spend too much time responding to lengthy emails.
